Did Phaedra make up the southern "Sip and See"?



Last Sunday night, The Real Housewives of Atlanta showed an episode in which Phaedra along with Dwight hosting a "Sip and See". If you're from the south, it's more like a "sip 'n see". Although another housewife professed she had never heard of a sip and see, Phaedra explained that it is an old southern tradition.
People gather at a set time in the afternoon to sip on drinks and see the baby; kind of like a post baby shower. However, a "sip and see" can also be used as a gathering to see the following events:
